Drayton in, Mayo Out

Stan Drayton Hired as Running Backs Coach

One down, three to go. Stan Drayton accepted the running backs job today. Drayton has been with Florida since 2005 but made the jump to join Coach Fulmer's soon to be staff. Drayton seems like a great hire for the Vols after losing Trooper Taylor. Trooper was best know for recruiting, but Drayton can do his share too, as he was a Rivals Top 25 recruiter for 2007 after his work at Florida. He told the Tennesean over the phone something we all love to hear, “I’m a Volunteer."

Jerod Mayo Going Pro
Junior linebacker Jerod Mayo has decided to take his game to the next level and has submitted his paperwork for the NFL Draft. News leaked last night but it was made official today after a meeting with head coach Phillip Fulmer and defensive coordinator John Chavis. Mayo led the SEC in total tackles with 140. Chavis continued to show his support for Mayo and is quoted saying, "He feels like he's done everything he can do here and has done everything we've asked of him and more," Chavis said. "We'd love to have him back. But he feels like the time is right to go, and we support him 100 percent. He's one of the best I've ever coached." Mayo had already earned his degree and was given the prediction of a "late second round, early third round" type pick.
