Vols Get Latrell Scott for WR Coach

It was announced this morning that Latrell Scott will join the staff at wide receivers coach. Scott comes from Richmond where he coached under new Offensive Coordinator, Dave Clawson. Head coach Phil Fulmer said, “In the interview process, he was very energetic, knowledgeable, and appears to be an excellent teacher. He has an outstanding reputation as a recruiter.” This appears to be another great hire for the Vols who seem to have a continued focuse on recruiting. Phillip Fulmer, who is a great recruiter himself, has added Stan Drayton, Dave Clawson, and Latrell Scott who all have Recruiter next to their specialties. Clawson even stressed recruiting at his press conference Friday, when he announced he would take the Tennessee job. (See post below for Video) Drayton was a Top 25 Recruiter and Scott has shown he can recruit everywhere he has been. The fact that the two assisstants have experience coaching under Clawson is nothing but a plus. “The carryover of his knowledge of Coach Clawson’s system certainly will help us make the transition,” Fulmer said about Scott. I like the way Fulmer has gone with his hiring and this revamped offense will hopefully show an improvement to an offense that was becoming boring. Tennessee football in 2008 just got that much more exciting.

For the Vols and for Latrell, this is a marriage made in the heavens.
He is an inspiration to a lot of kids who come to know him, He's a motivator and expects, not excellence, but he does expect his receivers to give all they have, just as he did when he played the game, and believe me, he played it well. With Latrell, what you see, is what you get. You can't ask for more. He's a brilliant young man and he's a great communicator, when it come to the game of football!

Getting to the Game
